Dear Parent/ Guardian

As you are aware we were delighted to receive funding from the John Wilson Memorial Trust to fund a number of new initiatives this year. Some of the funding is to host two KS3 pupil-parent days. After consulting with KS3 Parents two different activity days were confirmed.

The first of these is a ramble day, Saturday 23rd March. We will meet at the school carpark at 8.15am and travel by coach to the Carrick Little Carpark in the Mourne Mountains. From there we will enjoy a ramble along the side of the Annalong Wood, past the Blue Lough and maybe onto the saddle between Sl. Binnian and Sl. Lamagan where you can enjoy a great view of the Ben Crom Reservoir. There is a stone track the whole way and it is an enjoyable walk that can be paced to suit all – no-one will be left behind! We should return to school for approximately 4pm.

The walk will be led by qualified mountain leaders and a number of Brownlow Integrated College staff will also be in attendance on the day

Equipment needed:
• Long trousers/track bottoms
• T-shirt, fleece jacket/warm jumper
• Thick walking socks
• Walking boots/supportive trainers or shoes
• Hat and gloves
• Bring a change of clothes to leave in the coach
• Small back pack
• Waterproof jacket
• Over trousers (if you have a pair)
• Packed Lunch
• Flask or drink

There are a limited number of spaces available (approx. 50). Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis. As this is a pupil-parent day, all pupils attending must be accompanied by at least one parent on the day.

If you would like to join us for this ramble day please return the attached consent form, fully completed with any medical information, to Mrs Thompson. Mrs Thompson will send home notification of confirmed places. If all spaces are filled a reserve list will be put in place and if places become available, then these can be offered on a first come basis again.

This trip is fully funded by JWMT and is free for all participants. We are very much looking forward to spending time with you and enjoying the fun, fresh air and craic that ramble days bring. If you have any questions concerning the ramble day please do not hesitate to get in touch with Mrs Thompson, 38342121.
